Until recently Google News was a good place to check out leading news stories, but sadly it now appears to only be a money grubbing front for subscription seeking publications. Most of the “stories” listed under Headlines now are from publishers like the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, and Washington Post that once you click you find are only available for paid subscribers. Even the diminishing number of articles still available for free have more and more very obtrusive ads and pop-ups that can only be stopped by force quitting the entire app. This is one customer who therefore will now be permanently deleting the Google News app from my iPhone 7+.
FOUR TIMES IN A ROW this POS crApp has jacked up a share while I was writing a comment on it, wasting my time and effort. Screw it up one more time, Google, and this crApp will be OFF MY PHONE FOREVER.
Make no mistake about it Google News is the premier news aggregator. Complete customization of topics of interest. Hopefully updates in the future will be more frequent.
I used to love this app. Now, the phone just circles trying to load the data. It actually freezes the whole phone for a period. It’s almost useless.
Terrible. Every few times you run it the entire app and then the phone freezes. Months without an update. This should be removed from the App Store.
