Google News & Weather App Reviews

I dont mind change but why do developers feel they have to change things when they were working perfectly well just for the sake of change. The previous layout was excellent and made for easy quick reviewing of articles of interest. Now only one or two new stories show at a time and I have to keep swiping over and over and over again. Going to delete this one and move to a different news app.

Articles load very slowly, and when they finish the iPad seems clunky and unresponsive when you try to scroll. Its as if the computer is struggling to have enough resources to deal with all the changing advertisements embedded within the article. I might be deleting this app if it doesnt get fixed soon.

New photos waste data budget and are sometimes not relevant. Not welcomed. Increased "news" from junk sources. Increased links to sources which require subscription. Good news sources ignored. Some items linger for days. Keeps returning to top as updates happen during use. Has become a time waster.

Better than all the rest. Just what you want, no more and no less.

The News is a nice value. It doesnt have the polish that some publishers are able to offer. It has a fair amount of hype in the read,but it doesnt print partisan articles like some publishers. It does seem often sensational,but for the price its fair enough to continue to read.

I do not like the new layout of top stories. Horizontal scroll with photos. Please go back to vertical presentation with no photos.

Ive used this app before, and after reinstalling it, I am well pleased with the addition of accelerated mobile pages. It makes for a smooth and fluid reading experience.

Why add a side scrolling feature to an app thats designed to go vertically? Its a clunky design to what used to be a great, simple app. Go back to what it was. *Also, did they delete all the reviews with complaints about this?

How can you even consider not having a sort by date feature? The value of google news is to get the latest stories on your topic of interest, but using this app you will have to wade through pages and pages of week and month old stories to get to what you are looking for. You have to go to the web to have the option (and even then, the bury it under a deep menu). Know your users and add basic features please.

Im liking this. Stories we always updated. Stories can hang out on CNN for a week or more. This is much better.

Used to love this app but the latest update introducing carousel browsing for the top stories is horrible. Not only do I have to swipe in the direction opposite of how all the other sections are, but I can no longer expand the top story to choose a different news source. And thats when I can get the story load which is only half the time since the latest update is so buggy

I like this app more in theory than in practice. Customizing news to your interest is pretty cool, and that part does a decent job. The problems are that it draws often from very random sources Ive never heard and you can lower the frequency of stories from specific sources but not eliminate... And that process isnt simple. The biggest issue with the app is the latest update which changes the top stories into a side scrolling section and hurts the experience making it harder to see what you want to see. They also added AMP (logo is everywhere) to theoretically improve loading speeds. Generally, I want to like Google news more than I do, especially after the latest update.
