Google news aggregates news from different sources and shows you the headline with a small caption. The top new section consistently show stories by the Washington Post and the New York Times.

washington post gives free articles if they are featured - not something i have a problem with but google CONTINUES to feature both new york and la times that require payment to view the featured articles... thus removing any perception of neutrality and turning it into a commercial. very annoying - and enough to make me delete my app.

I expect a dedicated app to outperform its web counterpart, but that is not the case with this app. I often click a story and wait forever for it to load. I go to Google News in Safari browser, and the same story loads almost instantly. And when pages do load they are constantly shifting the formatting so the section I’m reading scrolls to where I can’t see it. Then I find it again only for the page formatting to change again. Very frustrating. Google News in a Web browser is so much better than this app it’s not even funny!

Google spreads a form of mailware called taboola, revcontent, sponsored ads and paid content. As it is know. These ads are fake ads and install tracking cookies on your device both android and iOS. Google refuses to block them. The only way to get rid of them is to erase the cookies. Which you can do in this app in IOS or android. What a shame google. You are guilty of allowing male ware even on your own apps.

Impressive how many of Googles very recent app relaeses have serious issues for users.

Many of the "headlines" are taken from opinion pieces in bottom feeding blogs. Thats not news, and certainly not "headlines."

The widget keeps automatically closing on its own. Fix this.

Google must be getting $$$ from NYT. The app used to be ALL free news, all the time. Most stories are now from NYT. You get a certain free per month and then you have to subscribe. No thanks! Deleting app for one of the many others that are still free.

Great content, very few (if any) questionable news sources.

Ive used this app for some time on my iPad(s), but now Google is sending me to articles linked with excessively aggressive, persistent, and pervasive ads. Ive been using Apple News more and more with good results and think Ill just drop Google entirely.

Used to love this app but since article sharing was broken it’s not worth using. Please fix!

The UI doesn’t seem to respond well to being resized when in split-view on an iPad. I’ve found that I have to manually refresh each view (pull to refresh) to get images to load or to get the story cards to resize. From a news design perspective, the headline and “interested in...” lines on the Local screen should not be close to the same size because they aren’t equally important. Overall, I find the visual design to be not very news-like at all. It’s quite bland, which can be fine if the content is allowed to be the “star” of the UI but this app keeps headlines and images so small that nothing stands out.

Ok so they fixed the AMP pages... mostly. Now the headline sections cannot be moved and reordered themselves

The "Headlines" section is a waste, its just a single page containing all the stories broken down in the other sections. Share link exists in this version but no longer functions. It appears the app was updated again today. Share button is still not operational.

Instead of any more updates with any more features or anything else, whats really needed is an OPTION IN THE APPS SETTINGS TO CLEAR UP THE CACHE! MANUALLY OR AUTOMATICALLY, NO MATTER! JUST GET IT DONE BECAUSE THIS STAYS ON PERPETUALLY KEEPING ALL CACHE FILES TILL MY PHONE IS OUT OF STORAGE AND I AM FORCED TO UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL THE APP IF I WANT TO KEEP USING IT!

Messy and poorly organized. Ads are often obstructive and difficult to get away from. Sometimes,have to crash out to back out. Google, why did you make it like this?

A few releases ago, you broke article sharing - the little arrow in the top right corner when reading any article. When you press the button, NOTHING happens. Still you have failed to address it. How bad is quality assurance and testing that this release was published with the article sharing feature completely inoperable? Was this even tested before release?!? Additionally, to my great disappointment, there is still no text-only mode like in Microsofts excellent Bing app. Please attempt to close the huge gap between this app and the competition and add this one feature - it makes reading so much more pleasant when you can set font size and colors to your taste. Even the Safari and Firefox mobile browsers offer this feature. After all this time, It is still not possible to read many articles dues to pop-up overlays that are impossible to close - PC Magazine is a perfect example. Please fix this!

This app serves up good news from good sources and handles specific topics I’m interested in well. However the app uses an absurd amount of data for what it is. It’s just news articles and it’s using almost 1GB a month over my LTE. This is a lot considering I use WiFi at work and Home.

I am now bring this app down to 1 star. There is NO excuse for not fixing the share feature so we can read articles later, share, etc. I cannot use this app in IOS until it’s fixed. While I have been using this app daily for about two years, a few things are problematic, especially in latest updates: 1. You cant share or save articles anymore - this needs to be fixed ASAP! 2. The new tabs at top are ok (not great, but livable) but then adding tabs bottom, it cuts down viewing space too much. It goes away when you go into a section, but when viewing summary page, really annoying. 3. The app needs to support subscriptions so there is no paywall for sites we already pay for. My fix in the past has been to click on "share" and open it in browser, but that ability is currently broken. 4. The sources seem to be shrinking. What I loved about this app was easy way to see multiple sources on same news story. The diverse sources of the past are getting too narrow. I want to see links to conservative and liberal (and in between) for more stories. 5. The format seems to be broken on a lot of sites. It is really hard to read some of them, and again, the share option is broken, so cant just use it to open in browser. 6. Overall, this can be a great news app and as I said, I am devoted to it because it is still better than most news aggregators but it is slipping and needs to get back on track. The format and share issues are getting to the point where I cant use it anymore. FIX IT ALREADY! IT HAS BEEN BROKEN FOR A FEW WEEKS!

The app is visually clean and so far the reporting is balanced. Just got the app but it looks and reads well.
