Love google news but this app has issues. First, I cannot change the account Im signed in with, a bummer because I want to use my usual google account with its news settings. Second, I try to get rid of sections I dont want and add those I do want and it reverts to the default set. I DO like the dark setting, very easy to read.

As a journalist, I appreciate Googles news selection algorithm; it approximates what a responsible news editor would select as top news, and does so better than the human editors at certain other web news services. I like the personalization features that allow me to, for example, get more NY Times while cutting out Fox News or to search for my favourite niche topics. I like the copy-first approach rather than the wall of largely uninformative photos and truncated headlines of other apps. Live breaking news video and maybe an hourly updated news wheel format video news update by Google would enhance the service while improving Google News brand presence and could be funded through video ad revenue. The right column is annoying but hey, they have to pay their bills and its less annoying than big box ads. This is the best one stop shop for all your news headlines at a glance. Its always good to have that diversity of sources.

Is ok...ish

At times the news stories are not updated on a frequent basis. Same of the stuff shows up for a few days or more. Other than that it a good application.

I was hoping for a more substantial weather component, but was impressed by the quality in general.

Arranged nicely, easy to follow. Good variety.

Pops up full screen ads which cant seem to be closed. Have to force quit the app. Love google news in general and this app is great otherwise but had to uninstall it.

Too many ads

Its the post all the time. Algo is a off for weeks now. How about some more options please. Im leaving for the apple news app, which has a selection of news outlets. Ill check back in a month.

The new Google news app is AWFUL!

I wish it looked like the web version, that you would view on a pc or Mac monitor .

When ever I open application I need to read black chronic first, and it doesnt matter what you put as priority... Google news always push for violence on top

This has increasingly become a problem such that I am looking for an alternative now. Great for PC but on iPhone too many ads. I would pay for an ad free version but not offered. Very disappointing. If you are ok with ads no prob if you dont mind being in the middle of reading something and being interrupted. Rather pay the cash myself

I should be able to block sources like Washington Post, RT, etc, as I can on the desktop. Some sources are either abusing Google News algorithms, paying them for ranking, or conspiring with them. Im assuming the former. Reading news stories shouldnt be nearly as frustrating as it is, with ads sometimes making it impossible to scroll further, with images popping in and moving down the text Im trying to read. I moved to Apple News and have been liking its speed, consistency, and (most importantly) ability to mute awful channels. It also catches insightful commentary articles more often and allows me to follow and manage more sources. Edit: Most of this hasnt changed. Apple News got worse. Google has awful political leanings, however.
